NORTH TONAWANDA

Rebecca focus of American Girl’s Club

Rebecca, the new American Girl, will be the focus of the American Girl’s Club from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive.

Participants can tell where their ancestors came from and share a family tradition such as a recipe or picture. Play Rebecca’s family tree game.

This program is for children in grades two and up who reside in North Tonawanda, Pendleton or Wheatfield.

Registration is required in person or phone, 693-4132, ext. 5.



Dom Polski schedules turkey raffle

A turkey raffle will take place on Saturday at Dom Polski Club, 576 Oliver St., North Tonawanda.

Doors open 7 p.m., with raffles starting at 7:30 p.m.

Music, beer, pop, and snacks will be offered.



Live Hose sponsors meat raffle

A meat raffle will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at Live Hose Volunteer Fire Company, 71 Vandervoort St., North Tonawanda.

Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.

A grand prize drawing for 10 turkeys will be featured.



Walk Through Bible seminar at St. Paul

St. Paul Lutheran Church and Preschool, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda, will host a Walk Through the Bible seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.     

Cost is $12 adults; $5 for those in grades four to 12; $24 family and $17 at the door.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with lunch included.

TONAWANDA

Annual breweriana show set at Eldredge

The annual fall breweriana show and sale, sponsored by the Simon Pure Chapter of the Brewery Collectibles Club of America, will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eldredge Club, 17 Broad St., City of Tonawanda.

Tables are $5. The event is free.

Rummage, chowder sale at church

The Tonawanda Free Methodist Youth Group will host a rummage and chowder sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 207 Grove St., City of Tonawanda.

Chowder will be ready at 9 a.m. for $5 a quart.

Advance order containers may be dropped off Friday.

Chowder will be delivered to Tonawanda Towers, Kibler Apartments and Gibson Street senior citizens housing complexes between 11 a.m. and noon. To place an order, call 693-1199.

From 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, a $1 admission fee will be charged for an early bird special for the rummage sale.

VNA flu shots and a blood drive sponsored by Upstate New York Transplant Services will also take place.

 

KEN-TON

Premier Gourmet offers vendor day

A vendor day will take place Saturday at Premier Gourmet, 3465 Delaware Ave., Kenmore.

Representatives of companies whose items are sold at the store will demonstrate products, offer samples and answer questions. Beer sampling will take place in the café.



Spaghetti dinner, auction hosted at hall

A spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction, sponsored by Brighton Ladies Auxiliary, will take place Saturday at Brighton Fire Hall, 50 Jamaica Road, Town of Tonawanda.

Dinner begins at 5 p.m. followed at 6:30 p.m. by the auction. Tickets are $6.50 presale, $7 at the door, $3 for children.

AREA

Wine, chocoate, cheese feat planned

A wine, chocolate and cheese fest, featuring a Farmer’s Market, will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Pekin Fire Hall, 3024 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn.

Tickets are $10.

  • BULLETIN: Events published March 6, 2010 Gregory Kinal will present a program on “Impact of the ’50s” at the 7 p.m. meeting Wednesday of the Historical Society of the Tonawandas in the community room at city hall, Niagara Street. The program will feature a look at the 1950s in America with images of everyday life, fads, political figures, dress styles and celebrities.

    All are invited.

  • BULLETIN: Events published March 5, 2010 Job applications for City of Tonawanda residents interested in seasonal work are available in the city clerk’s office at city hall.

    Positions include laborers, pool/playground attendants, lifeguards, park attendants and Gateway Harbor attendants.

    Anyone interested in a seasonal laborer position and available full time by April 15 should return completed applications to the clerk’s office by March 31.

    All other applications must be returned by April 15. All applicants must be residents of Tonawanda and at least 16 years old by June 1.

  • BULLETIN: Events published March 3, 2010 The Buffalo Society of Artists is bringing back its historic “Thumb Box Exhibition” which features small works by members of the society from Saturday through March 26 at Partners in Art Gallery, 74 Webster St., North Tonawanda.

    A reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday will open the show. All are invited.

    Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

  • BULLETIN: Events published Feb. 26, 2010 “Princess and the Frog” will be the featured movie at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Riviera Theatre, 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda as part of the Saturday Family Film series sponsored by the YWCA Tonawandas and the theater.

    Tickets are $2. A $1 raffle ticket or a non-perishable food item for the YWCA food pantry buys a chance to win a movie poster.
