Salvation Army seeks volunteer bell ringers
The Red Kettle campaign, the most important fundraiser for the Salvation Army, is in need of volunteer bell ringers at a variety of sites in the Tonawandas and the Town of Tonawanda.

Contracting firm launches Web site
New Buffalo Impact Inc., a City of Tonawanda-based home energy performance contractor and home energy information resource, has launched a new Web site to assist home owners find answers in their search for reduced energy bills, home energy efficiency, comfort, and energy safety.
The Web site, www.newbuffaloimpact.com, also introduces free home energy needs consultation.

Read to the Dogs set at library
A new session of Read to the Dogs with therapy dog Sandy will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 28 at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive.
Children in grades one to six may practice their reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog.
Choose a 15-minute session on your choice of Saturdays. To sign up, call the library at 693-4132, ext. 5.

The Northtowns Osteoporosis Support Group will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the auditorium of the Beechwood Center, 2235 Millersport Highway, Amherst.

Women Against Prostate Cancer Group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s Amherst Center, 100 College Parkway, Williamsville.
Linda Leising will present a talk on proper nutrition during and after prostate cancer.
DAR to tour historical society museum
The Abigail Fillmore Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will gather at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Buffalo Historical Society, 25 Nottingham Court, for a guided tour.
An optional lunch on Elmwood Avenue will follow the tour.

Job applications for City of Tonawanda residents interested in seasonal work are available in the city clerk’s office at city hall.
Positions include laborers, pool/playground attendants, lifeguards, park attendants and Gateway Harbor attendants.
Anyone interested in a seasonal laborer position and available full time by April 15 should return completed applications to the clerk’s office by March 31.
All other applications must be returned by April 15. All applicants must be residents of Tonawanda and at least 16 years old by June 1. -
