TCSD looking for new board member

Tonawanda News — The Tonawanda City School District is accepting letters of interest from individuals who wish to fill the board’s open spot. The term will end June 30.

Those interested should submit their letters of interest by 5 p.m. Friday to district clerk Bonnie Jayne at bjayne@tona.wnyric.org.

The candidate who fills the spot will participate in regular board meetings the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, as well as budget workshops and any additional meetings called.

Candidates must be a resident of the district, a citizen of the United States and at least 18 years of age.

The vacancy comes after Lynn Casal resigned from the board at the body’s last meeting Jan. 8, in opposition to the board’s search for a new superintendent and its selection of Dr. James Newton, current middle and high school principal.

Newton will begin as superintendent Tuesday.
