Tonawanda News — TOWN OF TONAWANDA — Bridge maintenance will continue on Interstate 290 in the vicinity of Interstate 190, in the town of Tonawanda, the New York State Department of Transportation said. Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday the I-290 westbound ramp to Interstate 190 southbound will be closed. The closure is expected to last approximately two days.
A posted detour will direct traffic north on I-190 exiting at River Road and proceeding to the southbound entrance to I-190 at Sheridan Drive.

Pedestrian killed crossing Niagara Falls Boulevard
A 49-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in the Town of Tonawanda while crossing Niagara Falls Boulevard early Wednesday, police said.
Kenmore cops mum on bar owner's slaying
Jim Cottone, owner of Malone's in Kenmore, found dead in home Sunday of blunt force injuries. Police have not released any further details and the bar was still closed Tuesday.
